Mahjong Classic on Aitchy.Games is a single-player Mahjong Solitaire puzzle built around the traditional 144-tile set. Match identical free tiles, open layered stacks, and clear the entire board while choosing from multiple layouts, modes, and assistance options.
How to Play Mahjong Classic
- Find two matching tiles that are both free.
- A tile is free when nothing is on top of it and at least one horizontal side is open.
- Select the first tile, then select its matching partner to remove the pair.
- Continue opening the layout until all 144 tiles have been removed.
Traditional Mahjong Solitaire Rules
- Regular tiles: bamboo, circles, characters, winds, and dragons must match exactly.
- Bonus tiles: any flower can match another flower; any season can match another season.
- Free tiles: a tile must be uncovered and open on its left or right side.
- Winning: remove every tile. If no pair remains, use undo or shuffle unless strict classic rules are enabled.

Is Mahjong Classic the same as four-player Mahjong?
No. This is Mahjong Solitaire, a single-player matching puzzle that uses Mahjong tile artwork. It does not use drawing, discarding, melds, or four-player scoring.
Why can’t I select a tile?
The tile is covered or blocked on both horizontal sides. Remove tiles above it or beside it until the tile has an open left or right edge.
Are all new games solvable?
Yes. The game assigns matching faces along a legal removal path. A manual shuffle creates a new solvable path for the remaining tiles whenever possible.
Can I continue a game later?
Yes. Auto-save restores the board, removed tiles, score, timer, tools, and undo history on the same browser and device.
Does Mahjong Classic work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The board automatically scales to desktop, tablet, and mobile screens, with touch-friendly controls and reduced-motion support.
